Elaine Marie Cotton
February 27, 1949 – June 29, 2024
Elaine Marie Cotton of Omaha, NE passed away on June 28th, 2024, at the age of 75. She had just celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary with her beloved husband, Dr. Joel T Cotton.
Born on the southside of Chicago on February 27, 1949, to Lorraine and Jack Finn, Elaine was the first of their four children. They relocated to Omaha when Elaine was in high school. She then put herself though college at Creighton University by working as a patient escort at Clarkson Hospital. It was here that she met the love of her life, Joel Cotton. They built their beautiful life together for the next 55 years in Omaha, NE. Her husband, family and friends, were the center of her life. Despite her small stature she was a beacon of strength and fortitude. Her sharp wit, her grace, her love of laughter, and her devotion to God, will be treasured in the hearts of her loved ones forever.
Elaine was the most wonderful mother, wife, grandmother and friend. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Dr. Joel Cotton; her devoted children, Julie Cotton (Samuel), Dr. Jonathan Cotton (Colleen), and Lauren Cotton (Taylor); 5 loving grandchildren: Madeline, Molly, Rosie, John, and Rafe Cotton; and her siblings, Carol Finn, Jean Finn, and Patrick Finn. She was welcomed into heaven by her parents, Lorraine and Jack Finn.

So sorry for your loss. She was always so kind and such a wonderful grandmother to her grandchildren who adored her. She will be missed.
Please accept our sincerest sympathies in your recent loss. Elaine was a beautiful lady and we know how much she will be missed by those who truly knew her. It was only six days prior to her death that we wished her “peace” at Mass. She will be in our prayers.

Elaine was a beautiful person whom I considered a good friend . My sympathies to Joel, children and family . Her smile and laugh was gift to all.
I was so saddened to hear of “Miss Finn’s” passing. She was one of my favorite teachers at St. Margaret Mary school. I loved learning French from her! Several of us Junior High girls were invited to her wedding to Dr. Cotton at St. Margaret Mary Church. Hard to believe that was 50 years ago!
Sending prayers to the Cotton and Finn families.
Very sorry to hear of your loss of Elaine. We shared so many great times with you all–bicycle trips, sailing, cooking, hanging out at the Larsens and your visits to Texas. I have thought of you both so many times with very fond memories.
Elaine was a wonderful beautiful person. Lots of memories through biking My heart goes out to her family. May she RIP. Will always miss her.
My favorite classes at St Margaret Mary’s were en francais with dear Miss Finn. We were so lucky to have foreign language classes in junior high. She was a fantastic role model who made her classes fun and engaging. I remember attending their wedding. We girls all gasped as she glided down the aisle as she truly was a stunning bride. I’m so happy they shared a wonderful life filled with love. Sincere sympathies to her loved ones left behind. Peace.
