Betty Bonner passed away on Tuesday June 4, 2024.
Elizabeth “Betty” Rosella (McDermott) (Raines) Bonner was born on November 8, 1936, the second of four surviving girls, born to William Raymond and Beulah Rosella (Jerman) McDermott, in Woodbury County Iowa.
She graduated from Anthon (IA) High School in 1955, where she had participated in music and cheerleading. After graduation Betty moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where she met Vance Darryl Raines from Brook Park, Minnesota.
She married Vance in February of 1957.
She spent most of her working career in various forms of financial accounting.
Betty was very interested in Polka music and spent much of her free time attending Polka dances and festivals around Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Nebraska. She was well known in the Polka community as a top notch dancer, and was an active member of a Polka society for many years.
She was a devout Catholic for her entire life and attended Mass religiously until her later years. She also supported many causes and participated in varied activities and events within the church throughout her life.
She was known to have a fine voice and entertained her children with her singing and yodeling.
In July of 1973, Betty was married for a second time. She was wed to John Thomas Bonner until their divorce was finalized in the Fall of 1979.
Betty is survived by her sister, Dorothy; children: Kevin (Diane) Raines, Ronald Raines, Julia Raines, Jodene Raines, and Theresa Raines; grandchildren: Benjamin, Jeris, Nicole, Jacob, Bryan, Christopher, Rocky, Kaitlin, Danny, Jerald, Justin, and Marie; great-grandchildren: Kaylee, Allison, Sawyer, Logan, and Patricia; many nieces and nephews; and a very large extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vance; ex-husband, John; parents, William and Beulah; father and mother-in-law, Sam and Irene Raines; and sisters, Lolly and Evelyn.

you have my deepest sympathies for your loss of Betty. I loved our phone conversations. No matter what was going on she was cheerful and witty..She will be missed by many. My prayers and thoughts are with you.
A truly great woman worthy of respect and admiration. A woman of great faith and commitment to her family. A bright light, an inspiration to so many. The peace, joy, and beauty of heaven is eternally hers now. Rest in peace dear lady. Until we meet again. RW
