On December 2, 2009, she received a promotion to Corporal.  She worked at Douglas County until May 2021, when she became too sick to continue.

In May of 2015, Ellen and Kyle met thru mutual friends.  They got married October 1, 2016, in Bellevue, Nebraska.  They enjoyed traveling together, including trips to Nashville and Steamboat.  They lived in Louisville, Nebraska, until Kyle got tired of her complaining about the bad drivers on Highway 50.  In April of 2018, they bought their house in Gretna, Nebraska, that they made a home with their beloved dogs.

Her vivacious spirit, the way she sparkled when she saw someone or something she loved, the way she left such an imprint on all of us. My heartfelt condolences to Kyle, her entire family, those she served with at County and the tons of friends she left behind. Love you Ellen….Mama Cathy

Oh Ell… it wasn’t supposed to end this way…
I’ll miss your wit, your love and pure joy of cows, that genuine belly laugh, those beautiful green eyes, your love of children (especially mine) and a shared history and kindredness that only we knew.
Rest easy Auntie Ell. I’ll miss you, dearest. Hug Codge and Old Girl and Mark from all of us.

Much love to Kyle, Toni, Tank and Billy during this time.
