Eric L. Carlberg, 60, of Cozad, Nebraska, formerly of Johnson Lake, passed away on Sept. 19, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on Sept. 27, 1961, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Richard Carlberg and Dolores “Dee” Blades. Eric graduated from Westside High School in Omaha. He went on to earn a culinary degree from Iowa Western College, receiving a scholarship from the Nebraska Restaurant Association.
Eric was united in marriage to Denise Sprecher on June 23, 1995, in Omaha, Nebraska. Eric and Denise relocated to Georgia, Kentucky and Missouri for his work as a traveling general manager for hotels. In 1999, they moved to Johnson Lake and helped operate Lake Shore Marina for the next 15 years. They enjoyed living at Johnson Lake, where they made many friends.
Eric was a huge supporter of the University of Nebraska football team. He spent his youth playing sports including football, swimming and gymnastics. Anyone that knew him would know he was a wonderful cook and grill master; he made a mean steak. Eric enjoyed an occasional round of golf and spent time boating at Johnson Lake. He also loved his dog, Zeus. Zeus is living happily with daughter Taylor in Omaha.
Eric was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Denise Carlberg. He is survived by his children: Zachary (Melissa) Carlberg of Omaha, Jesse (Sarah) Carlberg of Omaha, Erica (Paul) Wise of Omaha, Taylor (Joe) Schenk of Omaha, Tobie Carlberg of Lincoln, Jasmine (Isaac) Franz of Wisconsin, and Jaden Sprecher of Cozad; siblings: Richard “Rich” (Deb) Carlberg of Omaha, Karen (Dan) Finken of Johnson Lake, and Edward “EJ” (Nicole) Carlberg of Omaha; numerous grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 22 from 5-7PM at Heafey-Hoffmann-Dworak-Cutler, West Center Chapel, 7805 West Center Road, Omaha, Ne 68124

My deepest condolences to Eric’s family and friends. I have so many fond memories of spending time with Eric, from school to work and just hanging out.
