Ernest Myres, Jr.
March 9, 1947- October 28, 2023
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ernest Myres, Jr., on October 28, 2023, in Omaha, Nebraska. He was 76 years old.
Born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana, Ernest served with distinction in the U.S. Military. Later, he moved to Omaha to pursue his education, earning both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Nebraska Omaha. He dedicated many years to the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services in Council Bluffs, IA, from which he retired in 2018.
Ernest was a loving husband, a devoted father, and a pillar of strength to all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
He leaves behind his wife, Millicent (Ochuba) Myres; daughters, Stephanie Myres and Destinee Myres; siblings: Franklin (Carolyn) Myres of California, Jimmy (Venita Johnson) Myres of Colorado, Herman Jernigan of California, Herma Gardere; sister-in-law, Esther (Ochuba) Okampa and her son, Emmanuel Okampa; brother-in-law, Dr. Gregory (Dr. Diane) Ochuba, their daughters, Nikki (Ochuba) Joseph and Olivia Ochuba; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Myres Sr., and Vassie (Jernigan) Myres; brothers: Nelson Myres, Willie Myres, Louise Myres, Hardy Myres, Ramond Myres, MacArthur Myres.
VISITATION: Tuesday, November 14, 2023, 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the West Center Chapel, 7805 W Center Rd., followed by a FUNERAL SERVICE: at 10:30 a.m. INTERMENT: Omaha National Cemetery with Military Honors.
