Evelyn E. Labode

Labode, Evelyn E., Nov 29, 1940 – May 22, 2011. Died in Omaha, NE from complications of lung cancer. Evelyn described herself as a “Wife, Mother, Feminist, Sister, and Grandmother.” She leaves her husband of 46 years, Bode Labode; children: Modupe, Ayo, Moyo, Treena Labode and Jim Scott; grandchildren: Hope and Malachi Scott-Labode and Madison Shosten; brother, Percy Thomas of Ellicott City, MD. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lillian Sutton. VISITATION begins Wednesday, 5:30 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 14330 Eagle Run Dr., followed by VIGIL SERVICE at 6:30pm. MEMORIAL MASS Thursday, 10:30am, St. Vincent de Paul Church. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Oblate Sisters of Providence, Knowles Mercy Spirituality Center, St Vincent de Paul Parish Outreach, or Omaha Habitat for Humanity.

    Family of Evelyn,
    I believe she was my 9th grade French teacher when I lived in Muscatine, Iowa. This would have been in 1969-1970. She was always very bright and cheerful as we started each class. “Bonjour classe”! To which we responded “Bonjour Madame Labode”! She had a great spirit. My condolences to you for the loss of such a wonderful lady.
