Evelyn M. (Schroeder) Brueggemann

July 3, 1930 – June 12, 2023

Evelyn M. (Schroeder) Brueggemann was born in Omaha, Nebraska on July 3, 1930 and died on June 12, 2023 at the age of 92 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; parents, Meta and Carl Schroeder; three sisters: Lorene Hazen, Elvera Jeck, and Eleanor Marcan. She is survived by a sister, Helena Kielion; brother, Carl Schroeder (Carol); daughters: Linda Tripp (Steve), Cheryl Goodwillie (Mike), and Susan Tabor (Mike); son, Michael (Jana); nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A lifelong Lutheran, her faith was very important to her. As a teenager, she enjoyed singing in church choir and school theatricals. After her marriage, she and Ralph lived in Manhattan, Kansas during the Korean Conflict. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and freezing the produce, decorating her home, big band music, church and school volunteer work, NU and UNO athletics, and traveling with her family. Most of all, she loved hosting family holidays. Primarily a homemaker, she worked part-time for several northwest Omaha area pharmacies.

    My sympathies on your loss. I know the last few years have been difficult for you and your family. You cared for your mother so well and treated her with dignity and grace.

    Sending my prayers and sympathy for your loss. May Evelyn rest in peace now and join Ralph in heaven. They were the best neighbors to me on Lake Street. Such special memories I will always cherish.
