Kathleen A. (Ryder) Finnegan Aug 21, 1927 – Apr 5, 2015 Age 87, of Omaha, NE, passed away surrounded by family on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015. Preceded in death by loving husband of 62 years, James J. Finnegan; parents, Ruth H. and Francis T. Ryder; brothers, Jim Ryder (Jean) and Tom Ryder; sisters: Mary Wilmes (Jim), Frannie Wear (Bob), and Bernadette Strasheim. Survived by children: Maureen Ziegler (Barry), Patricia McMullen (Tim), Colleen Walker (Jim), Sharon Finnegan, Jim Finnegan (Nicole), and Kathleen Hiatt (Mark); grandchildren: Tricia Madden (Ken), Tom Ziegler (Chrissy), Kerry Ziegler, Danny McMullen (Ashley), Meghan McMullen (fiancé, Jayme Timm), Nick Zeisel, Jimmy Walker, Shelby, Kelly and Shamus Finnegan, Keara, Anne and Margaret Hiatt; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Patty Quinn (Jack); many nieces and nephews. Also survived by her dear, lifelong friend Rene Garvey. Katy was born on August 21, 1927 in Omaha, NE; attended St. Mary’s High School, then Creighton University, where she met her husband Jim. Katy and Jim spent 20 happy years with their family in Minneapolis, MN, returning to Omaha in 1978. The pillars of Katy’s life were her strong Catholic faith, motherhood, and love of family. Her sweet smile and infectious sense of humor were gifts she gave to all who knew her. We miss you so much, Mom. A special thank you to all the Encompass caregivers, especially Joan Davelis and Anna Huss. The family will receive friends Friday, April 10th from 5pm to 7pm, with VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm, all at the West Center Chapel. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL Saturday, April 11th at 10am at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment, Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Poor Clare Sisters of Omaha or N.C. Little Memorial Hospice of Edina, MN.
