Preceded in death by parents, Thomas Gozzo and Elvira Pisano; siblings: Joseph Gozzo, Ida Montalbano and her husband Anthony, Lena Rancatore and her husband Frank; her husband, Charles Macchietto; Charles’ parents, Alfonso and Maria, and siblings, Anthony and Anastasia.

Survived by brothers-in-law, Joseph Macchietto and his wife Edie, Rex Earl and his wife Celeste; sisters-in-law, Anne Marie Gozzo; and Paula Macchietto; her children: Mary Bernier and husband Bob, John and wife Vicki, Carl and wife Fany, Albert and wife Michaela; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Born to Italian immigrants, Frances grew up in Omaha’s Little Italy during the Depression. She attended Mason Elementary and Tech High School. She moved with her family to San Francisco during World War II and worked as a jeweler and civil service worker. Frances married family friend, Charlie, after he returned from serving in Patton’s Army, and the couple moved to Ames, Iowa while Charlie finished his education. They relocated to Omaha in 1949 and made Omaha their permanent home. Frances worked inside the house raising their four children and worked part-time sales positions.

Frances enjoyed cooking Italian dinners, bowling, painting, singing, and dancing, and volunteering for St. Joan of Arc Church, Bergan Mercy Hospital, and the Italian-American Heritage Society. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, her best friend Cookie Ladwig, and her sisters-in-law. She died peacefully in Hospice at the age of 93.

The family will receive friends on Monday, Jan. 29^th from 5pm to 7pm at the West Center Chapel, with VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm.  MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL on Tuesday, Jan. 30^th at 10am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 3122 S. 74^th St.  Entombment, Calvary Mausoleum.  Memorials to St Joan of Arc Church or Italian-American Heritage Society.
