Frances (Olderog) Petersen

Born in Gretna, NE, on September 12, 1914. Died in Laguna Woods, CA, on January 8, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, and daughter, Julie Hove. She is survived by her son, Rick Petersen (Jean), and four grandchildren: Scott Hove, Kristin Herrera (Benn), Jesse Petersen, and Sarah Petersen, along with four nieces and nephews.
She married Richard “Dick” Petersen on October 21, 1939. They had a wonderful life together and were married for 68 years, until Dick’s passing in 2007.
Fran was a proud graduate of Omaha South High School and stayed in close touch with classmates throughout her life.
Fran and her family lived in Council Bluffs, IA, until the fall of 1964, when she and Dick moved to Arlington, VA, for his job with the federal government. Fran worked in the interior-design area of a large department store in D.C. She had a lifelong passion for decorating, fashion, and all things beautiful, all of which were reflected in each of her homes.
After Fran retired in 1979, she and Dick moved to Laguna Woods, CA, where they enjoyed living in warm weather, until their passing.
Throughout their lives, Fran and Dick loved socializing with family and friends. They were supportive members of Lutheran congregations wherever they lived. After moving to the east coast and, later, in their retirement, they took special pleasure in traveling throughout the U.S. and the world.
