Francis Michael “Mike” Nolan

March 17, 1944 – October 15, 2023

Francis M. “Mike” Nolan, 79, of Omaha, Nebraska died peacefully on Sunday, October 15, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis “Frank” and Virginia Nolan; and his sister, Patricia Noble. Mike leaves behind his loving wife of 51 years., Mary Joellen “Jodie” Nolan; his children, and their spouses: Patrick and Leizel Nolan, Megan and Charles Fletcher , Ryan Nolan and Laura Freis; his cherished grandchild, Erin Nolan; eight siblings, and their spouses: Kathleen and Dennis Clay, Sheila Schonlau, Rosemary Dizona, Rita and Dick Christensen, Marianne Nolan and Les Nogowski, Brian and Barbara Nolan, Denise and Michael Antrim, Robert and Bo Nolan.

Over his lifetime he was a friend to many.

Mike enlisted into the United States Marine Corps after graduating from High School. Before settling down to start a family he attended the University of Omaha and Creighton University. He was active with many charities and professional organizations such as the Madonna School, Fontenelle Forest, Omaha Rotary, SIOR, Junior Achievement of the Midlands, among others.  He had a passion for riding the Wabash Trace and Keystone Trail. He was an avid supporter of Creighton Prep, Notre Dame, Kansas City Chiefs and The College World Series.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Madonna School, Fontenelle Forest, or the Josie Harper Hospice House in honor of Mike’s memory.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Saturday, November 4, 2023, 10:30 a.m., at the West Center Chapel, 7805 W.     I’m so very sorry for your loss. I’ve known Mike for 30 years. Worked out with him at the YMCA. Always enjoyed his company and stories about his service and mine. He will be sorely missed.

    Dear Mike, you were the best friend that anyone could ask for. I have so many wonderful memories from the past 60 years. I have so many frequent memories that I will cherish.     Mike, I miss you. I felt for years that you were a better friend than I deserved. You communicated and brought your friends together. You instigated a lot of fun and good fellowship. The sight of your family will always be a reminder of how much we all mean to each other. Thanks for your love through all these years.

    Jodi, please accept my sincere condolences at this most difficult time. Although our paths have not crossed but a couple times since we worked together at St. Joe’s the memories I have of working with you are visited by me frequently and hold a special place in my heart.     Such a sad time for family and friends, Mike was a special person with a memory second to none. All of my memories are special. My heart goes out to Mike’s family and friends, we are going to miss him.
