Francis William Dalhoff
October 30, 1925 – August 21, 2018
On the morning of August 21, 2018, Francis Dalhoff (aka Frank, Butch), age 92, made his final journey into heaven, joining his beloved wife Louise.
Frank was born on October 30, 1925 to Fred and Anna (Eischeid) Dalhoff in Halbur, Iowa. He was the third of 11 children. He spent his childhood in Halbur, before joining the U.S. Army on Feb. 28, 1944 at age 18, where he picked up the nickname “Butch.” After his military service, of which he was very proud, Frank married Louise Klocke on Nov. 21, 1950 and moved to Omaha, Nebraska. He graduated with a degree in accounting from Creighton University and spent a long career working for Charlie Graham Buick (Reagan Buick) until retirement.
Frank and Louise had four children; Steve, Diane, Mary Jo and David. We all remember Dad with a camera in his hands at all times, recording our lives in pictures and video. (And lots of photos of food!) Dad treated us to the annual vacation to Lake Okoboji in Iowa where many fond memories were made. We also gained a love of music from the numerous albums he often played at home.
“Butch” had many lifelong friends, including the group of stinky cigar-smoking, pinochle-playing men!
Frank instilled in his four kids an outstanding work ethic and, along with Louise, a strong Catholic faith, for which we will be forever grateful.
Frank was preceded in death by wife, Louise; parents, Fred and Anna; brothers: Freddie, Jerry, Joe, Elmer and Virgil; sister, Arlene Heiman. He is survived by sons, Steve (Maureen) and David (Kelly); daughters, Diane Carpenter (Val) and Mary Jo Zabel (Mike); grandchildren: Bill (Melissa), Tom, Jim (Brittany) and John (Katie) Dalhoff, Kendy McCoy, Becky (Josh) LaFromboise, Daniel (Kaela) and Scottie (Kristina) Carpenter, Matt (Amanda), Mike and Fred (Veronica) Markey, Annie and Eric Dalhoff; great-grandkids: Clara, Emme, Will Dalhoff, Rachel and Timmy Dalhoff, Jordan (Lauren) and Kaylee Carpenter-Reisbeck, Kendree and Peyton Morton, Chloe and Colt LaFromboise, Colby and Tess Carpenter, Hunter Markey and Karsyn Grandy; Brother, David (Darlene) Dalhoff; sisters: Marge (John) Gehling, Mitzi Luchtel, and Jo Anne Stransky; sisters-in-law: Edna Dalhoff, Patty Heschm and Arlene Dalhoff; many nieces and nephews. RIP Dad!
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 26th from 2pm to 4pm at the West Center Chapel, followed by VIGIL SERVICE at 4pm. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Monday, August 27th at 10am at Christ the King Catholic Church, 654 S. 86th St. Entombment, Calvary Mausoleum with military honors by Benson VFW Post 2503.
