Frank M. Bluvas entered eternal rest with the Lord on February 12, 2024. He would have celebrated his 77th birthday later this month.
Frank was born in Omaha, NE, on February 27, 1947, to Ann Bluvas and Frank Bluvas Sr. He attended Creighton Prep High School and went on to graduate from the University of Nebraska Omaha.
Frank took a position as a horticulturist at the Henry Doorly Zoo following graduation. It became his lifelong career which he completely dedicated himself to. The Garden of the Senses was the one area where he was particularly involved and took great pride in. Following his retirement from the zoo, he continued to share his talents for gardening and horticulture by regularly volunteering there. He kept his family updated on all of the new developments, exhibits, and expansions the zoo was continually doing.
Frank was a member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Omaha, NE. He was a steadfast Catholic and faithful follower of Jesus Christ. He had a particular devotion to our Blessed Mother Mary and to praying the rosary.
Frank is survived by his brothers, William Bluvas, and Bernard “Bud” Bluvas; sister, Barbara Hadland (Harold); many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great- nephews, who all loved him dearly.
Frank was preceded in death by parents, Ann and Frank Bluvas, Sr; brother, Robert Bluvas; infant brother, Donald Bluvas; sister-in-law, Carol Bluvas; nephews, Patrick Bluvas and Douglas Bluvas; niece, Janeen Bluvas; and great-niece, Madeline Bluvas.

May He Rest in Peace
My sincere condolence to Barb and family.
Volunteered with Frank at Zoo. Will miss him. Dennis
I didn’t know Frank but saw him regularly at the zoo, where I am also a volunteer. He was a familiar figure on zoo grounds. I will miss seeing him busily tending to all the plants he cared for. So sorry for your loss.
jim and I send our deepest sympathies on the loss of Frank.
