Frederick “Freddie” Benjamin Farrell
February 12, 2023 – May 7, 2025
With hearts full of love and sorrow, we share the passing of our beloved son, Freddie Farrell, who left this world far too soon at just 2 years and 3 months old.
Freddie was a bright light in every life he touched. Born on February 12, 2023, he brought with him a joy that radiated through even the most difficult days. Diagnosed with a rare cancer at just three months old, Freddie faced more challenges than most do in a lifetime-but he did so with an unshakable spirit, a sweet smile, and an incredible strength that inspired everyone around him.
Freddie loved Mickey Mouse, Toy Story, Cars, music, bubbles, and the simple joys of being outside. He adored sunshine and the ocean, strawberries and slides, horses and his golf clubs. Freddie especially loved riding in his blue car-zooming down the halls of Children’s Nebraska and cruising the streets of his neighborhood with the wind on his cheeks and a grin on his face. Whether he was swinging at the park or cuddling his Great Dane, Dutch, and his cat, Ricky, Freddie brought laughter and warmth to every moment. He loved to dance and laugh and play, but most of all, he adored and looked up to his big brother, Marcus.
He is deeply loved and missed by his parents, Lindsay (Olson) and Johnny Farrell; big brother, Marcus Hurtz; paternal grandmother, Kay Farrell of Omaha; maternal grandmother, Julie Olson of Aurora, NE; loving aunts, uncles, and cousins: Aunt Catherine (Farrell) Proctor and cousins, Lauren and Meredith of Omaha; Uncle William “Wiff” Frederick Farrell and Jane Farrell of Omaha; Aunt Hillary (Olson) and Uncle Aaron Mundt of Stromsburg, NE, and cousins Wyatt and Sawyer; Aunt Natalie (Olson) and Uncle Lehr Dircks, and cousins Louis and Harvey of Omaha; Aunt Phoebe (Olson) and Uncle Scott Johnson, and cousins Bailey, Brooklyn, Finnley, and Adam of Elk Point, SD.
Freddie was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Benjamin Olson; paternal grandfather, William “Bill” Frederick Farrell; and his cousin, Carson Benjamin Neville.
Though his time with us was brief, Freddie made an impact that reached far beyond his years. His light, courage, and love will continue to shine and make the world a better place. He will forever be our bright star.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 15th from 4-8 PM at Heafey, Hoffmann, Dworak & Cutler, West Center Chapel.
The funeral service will take place on Friday, May 16th at 11 AM at All Saints Episcopal Church.
Memorials are suggested to The Freddie Farrell Foundation, supporting pediatric cancer awareness and research in Freddie’s honor.
