Gary L. Carrico 

August 16, 1938 – April 11, 2024

Gary Lee Carrico, 85, of Beloit, Kansas, passed away on April 11, 2024, in Fremont, Nebraska. He was born on August 16, 1938.

Gary is survived by his children: Kim Thomey (Chris), Julie Stanek (Greg), John Carrico (Sarah), and Scott Carrico; and grandchildren: Charlie (Addie) and Madeline (Karl) Thomey, Hannah (J.J.) Zumbrennen, Macey and Whitney Carrico, and Mia and Izzy Carrico.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Paul Carrico; and his wife, Mary Lou.

Gary attended St. John’s in Beloit, KS, for primary and high school. He received a B.S. in accounting from the University of Kansas and a M.B.A. from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Before moving to Omaha, he worked at UCLA and KU. In May of 2004, Gary Carrico retired from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where he was Vice-Chancellor of Business and Finance from 1972-2003. He will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his love of KU basketball, and his dedication to the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

VISITATION: Friday, April 26th, from 12 to 1 p.m., followed by MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL at 1 p.m., at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 11802 Pacific St.

Interment, Resurrection Mausoleum.

Memorials may be directed to the University of Kansas or the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

    I’m praying for all the Carricos. I’ve really positive memories of different conversations I have with your dad during high school. May he rest in peace..
