November 7, 1934 – November 18, 2018
Gayle Dean Bierma, age 84 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Nellie Bierma; his loving wife, Marlyce Rae (Schow) Bierma; and 10 of his 11 siblings. He is survived by his children and their spouses: Diane and Paul Zacher of Branson West, Missouri, Mark and Sherie Bierma, Julie and Kevin Kruger, all of Omaha; grandchildren: Jared, Justin, Ariel, and Eric; sister, Erma Jean Young of Elkhorn, Wisconsin; niece and nephews.
When he was a young man, Gayle was employed full time by the World Herald, but made his career with the United States Post Office for 34 years. Although for much of his life he enjoyed hunting, his passion was his lawn and garden. Forever learning new things, he took up square dancing in 2011 thanks to a longtime family friend, Vera Ridgeway. Gayle’s membership with his church during the past eight years yielded many friendships, including that of Sandy Rockwood.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Nov. 23rd from 5pm to 7pm at the West Center Chapel. SERVICES: Saturday, Nov. 24th at 10:30am, West Center Chapel. Interment, Evergreen Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Living Faith United Methodist Church.
I worked with Gayle for many years and I can say that he was a true gentleman, honest and the very best person. He cared for his wife after her illness. The best kind of person! RIP Gayle!
