Barbara Helen Geil Dec 14, 1929 – May 24, 2016 Barbara Helen Geil passed away on May 24, 2016. She had been a resident of Parsons House for the last year. Barbara was born to Adam and Helen (Foerster) Geil on Dec. 14, 1929, in Omaha, NE where she lived all of her life. Barbara graduated from Central High School in Omaha. She began her career as an administrative assistant at Cudahy Packing Company and moved on to other business offices in Omaha, ultimately retiring from Millard Lumber after years of service there. She also was a devoted volunteer for political causes and for her church through the years. Barbara loved taking car trips around the country with her family culminating in her dream of traveling to Hawaii. Most of all, she enjoyed living on the family acreage thick with beautiful trees, and where chickens, fruits and vegetables were raised for many years. Barbara is predeceased by her parents and by her brother, Ronald A. Geil, of Austin TX. Family members left to remember her are niece, Pamela Geil McNutt of suburban Dallas, TX; nephews, Glenn Geil of suburban Atlanta, GA and Gregg Geil of Austin, TX; sister-in-law, Louise Geil of suburban Dallas, TX; two grandnieces, and four grandnephews; cousins: Jack Zich, Henry Zich, Robert Zich and Richard Zich; as well as dear friend Lucia St. Cyr of Omaha, who lovingly oversaw Barbara’s care during her final years. The family will receive friends Friday, May 27th from 10am to 11:15am at St. Cecilia Cathedral, followed by MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL at the Cathedral at 11:15am. She will be laid to rest with her parents at Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park.
