Geoffrey was born in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England to William and Dorothy (Pearson) Paterson.  He was preceded in death by his parents and older sister June Christine Paterson; father and mother-in-law Elmer and Dee (Woods) Hemsath.  He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Debra; son Jimmy and daughter-in-law Aubrie; daughter Liz and son-in-law Jeff Paterson-Fisk; grandchildren Alexis, Kyla, and Jackson Paterson; Justus Fisk, Elijah and Reese Paterson-Fisk.

Geoff was an avid bicyclist, both in England and Omaha.  He rode in BRAN (Bike Ride Across Nebraska) and NUMB (Nebraska United Methodist Bike Ride for Hunger).  Geoff also worked at multiple bike shops in Omaha and was well known by the biking community, especially for the Benson area “Dippy Donut Ride” in the 1980s.

Geoff and Deb met in Somerset England in 1974. They were married in Pasadena CA in August 1975. They returned To England from 1976-1978, when Deb learned to enjoy bike vacations in the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Derbyshire Dales, Somerset, Scotland, and Wales.  Geoff immigrated to Omaha NE at the end of 1978, his wife’s hometown.

Geoff loved people and socializing.  He loved his grandchildren, taking them for walks and going to playgrounds. All his grandkids sorely miss Grandpa/Papa/Poppy.

All his friends and family are blessed to have known this wonderful man for the past 77 years.
