George D. Watkins


September 23, 1942 – January 10, 2019

George’s focus in life was always his family. Son of Harley and Vivian Watkins. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Jane of 51 years, children Bryan (Judy), Brent, and Kristen. Grandchildren Lexus, Bailey, Jack, Matthew, Caitrin, Lilah. Great-Grandson Elliot. Sister Karen Rhodes and brother Crayton Watkins. Memorials in his honor to MD Anderson Cancer Center, Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, and Omaha’s 1-80 Cosmopolitan Club.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Jan. 15th from 6pm to 8pm at the West Center Chapel.  SERVICES: Wednesday, Jan. 16th at 9am at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 7706 S. 96th St. in LaVista.  Graveside Service: Wednesday, 11am, Omaha National Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #1.

    Jane, Kristen, Brent and Bryan. You and your families are in our prayers and thoughts. George was a kind and amazing man. We are blessed to have had the opportunity to spend time with him. We are especially thankful we got to know him on a personal level. May God watch over each and everyone of you and remember George will always be with us in our hearts and memories. RIP my friend!!!

    Jane and Family – We are so sorry to hear about George. He meant so much to our family as he helped you in the care of the kids when they were young. Cam especially always held George as a special friend. He was a very lucky man to have such a wonderful family to spend his life with. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

    I had breakfast with George at the Cosmopolitan meeting almost every Friday for years. I always enjoyed talking to him and hearing his take on whatever we were talking about.

    He was a great guy and I’ll miss him.
