George J. Schaefer IV was born May 17, 1974 in Beatrice, NE. He entered peacefully into eternal rest on May 11, 2025.
George worked in information technology as a project manager for over 25 years. From a young age he loved Husker football and golfing, and grew to enjoy many other sports. On a weekend you could often find him watching a Nascar race, a hockey game or his beloved Huskers. He was also quite the handyman and more than willing to help others fix, repair or build most anything. He loved music and movies and had a knack for reciting memorable movie lines or lyrics of a song at the perfect time. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family. If you knew George, he was always the life of the party making sure to visit with everyone. We will all miss your laugh and smile and most of all, you.
George is survived by his wife, Ruth Schaefer; daughter, Mara Schaefer; mother, Joyce Tomich; father, George (Jan) Schaefer, III; sister, Kerri (Jeremy) White; step-brothers, Jason (Marlo) Tomich and Matt Tomich; father and mother-in-law, Allan (Sharon) Schumacher; many nieces and nephews.

I’m really going to miss talking about guns and movies with you. Rest in Peace my friend
Ruth & Mara,
We are so very sorry for your loss. I knew Georgie since he was a little boy through my nephews. Favorite memory was meeting you and dancing with George at Brad’s wedding. George loved to have fun! You and Mara have your own guardian angel. Hugs to you both from Cody. We are praying for you both.

I am so sorry for your loss! Prayers are with the family!
I worked with George for many years. I always thought he was a cool dude. I will miss him.
Ruth and Joyce. So shocked to hear that George passed. I just saw him in April on my recent trip to Omaha. I enjoyed his Sunday morning visits at Joyce’s when he brought little Mara along. George was always very kind to me and never failed to ask when I was in Omaha, “How’s the girls?” (Meaning our three daughters)
We were so sorry to hear about George and we are going to miss that amazing smile and his great hugs.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
I worked with George at several employment locations. I can truly say he was a joy to be around. He always had a great attitude towards making things better. I’m going to miss him, rest in peace.
We were all shocked to hear of George’s passing. Thinking of the entire family in this difficult time.
