George P. DeMaro

DeMaro, George P. Jan 27, 1925 – Dec 19, 2013 George P. DeMaro, age 88, of Cozad, Nebraska, peacefully passed away at the Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska on Dec. 19th. George was born on Jan 27, 1925, in Nebraska City. He graduated from St Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana in 1947. He was married to Theresa Trouba on Sept. 15, 1951; their son, Bruce, was born in 1963. George began his career with Armour’s in Omaha, then moved with them to West Point and in 1965, to Cozad, where they made their home. After 24 years as a controller, George retired. He kept busy working with Simplot and Walmart, and escorting vacation bus tours. In 2012 his wife of 61 years passed away and he moved to the Legacy in Lincoln where he met many new friends and enjoyed all of their wonderful programs. George was a faithful member of Christ the King Catholic Church. He was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus, serving as a local and state officer; a member of the Elks Lodge; and a volunteer at Cozad’s Grand Generation Center. He loved traveling, playing bingo, reading western novels, watching Husker football, community service, and spending time with Theresa and their friends. George was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Theresa; brother, Anthony DeMaro; and brother in law, LeRoy Matthews. Survivors include his son Bruce (Shari Preston) DeMaro of Olathe, Kansas; granddaughters: Taylor, Hannah and Ryley DeMaro of Olathe; sister in law, Mary Ann (Trouba) Matthews of Omaha; and a few relatives and friends. VISITATION begins Monday, December 30th at 11am at the West Center Chapel of Heafey Hoffmann Dworak Cutler Mortuary in Omaha, followed by SERVICES at 12 noon at the mortuary. Interment, Calvary Cemetery, Omaha. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hospice House in Omaha.
