Gerald “Jerry” R. Jeanneret of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 9, 2023.

Jerry was born October 30, 1938, in Auburn, NE; The oldest of three children born to Henry and Ruth Jeanneret. He attended Brock High School, graduating in 1957. It was said Jerry was one of the best overall athletes to come out of Brock High School, playing 6-man football, running the half-mile in the state track meet, and being a star on the basketball court. He continued his education at Peru State College where he played baseball and represented the Bobcats on the pitching mound.

On April 8, 1961, Jerry married LeAnn Bennett, with whom they had two children, Michael (Mike) and Cheryl, only 13 months apart.

For nearly thirty years he maintained parks throughout the city of Omaha, working for the Omaha Parks and Recreation Department and retiring in 1996. Throughout his retirement he enjoyed traveling with Mike to watch sporting events and spending time with his wife, LeAnn, who he adored.

Jerry was admired by many. He enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals, traveling to sporting events, and watching the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He had a quick wit and he loved entertaining people with his humor and his knowledge of history, especially sports history. Jerry brought comfort and joy whenever he walked into any room.

Jerry is survived by his two children, Michael Jeanneret of Omaha, Nebraska, and Cheryl Jeanneret of Eugene, Oregon.; brothers, Kenneth Jeanneret (Deb), and Daniel Jeanneret (Susan). He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry, and Ruth Jeanneret; wife, LeAnn Jeanneret; godson, Brett Jeanneret.

A Celebration of Life services will be held at HEAFEY-HOFFMANN-DWORAK-CUTLER at 7805 W. Center Rd, Omaha, NE, on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 11:00 am. A Visitation will be held prior to the Celebration of Life at 10:00 am.
