Geraldine C. “Gerry” Dibelka

Geraldine C. “Gerry” Dibelka

March 30, 1930 – September 16, 2023

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

Gerry Dibelka, age 93 years, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2023.

Born on March 30, 1930, Gerry was the daughter of John and Christine Hilbert. She grew up in Omaha with her three siblings, attending Holy Name Catholic School.

She married the love of her life, Harold, and celebrated 60 years of marriage with him before his passing in 2013.

Gerry’s life was centered around her family, friends, and faith. She loved to travel and spend time with family – having seven children in ten years didn’t slow her down a bit. Each summer, Gerry and Harold would pack up their kids with the family dog in the station wagon to create vacation memories.

Gerry had an artistic flare about her, decorating for every holiday, crafting, and beautifying her flower beds. Her family and friends will fondly remember playing cards and games – staying up late in the night for “just one more hand”. She was one of the founding members of the “Birthday Club” at St. Robert’s, a thriving group that began after the death of her son, Tom, in 1975.

In her later years, Heritage at Sterling Ridge became her home where she enjoyed connecting with many friends. The family wishes a special thank you to the staff there as well as to the staff of Peaceful Hearts Hospice who provided so much loving comfort the last few months.

Gerry is survived by her children: Sharon Davison (Al), Donna Bigelow (Gary), Jan Nicola, Lori McMillan (Greg), Jaci McKeever (Shann) and Rick Dibelka; 20 grandchildren and their spouses; 38 great-grandchildren; brother, Don Hilbert (Rody).

Gerry was preceded in death by husband, Harold; son, Tom; siblings, Sister Mary Frances, OSM., and Rev. J Robert (Bob) Hilbert (SJ); and her parents, all of whom she will now join in Heaven.

VISITATION begins on Wednesday, September 20th at 9:30am at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 11802 Pacific, followed by MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL at 10:30am.  Interment, Calvary Cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, or to a charity of your choice.  To view a live broadcast of the Mass, please visit www.heafeyheafey.com and click the “Live Cast” button at the top of the home page.

So many wonderful memories of parties at the Dibelka’s surrounded by the St. Robert’s Gang. Every Mom was watching out for 20 other kids in addition to their own. What a magical childhood we shared. Lots of Love to all the Dibelka’s. I can see a huge grin on Harold’s face when Gerry walked in!
