BAHLE, Gerhardt Paul Jul 21, 1922 Apr 20, 2014 Retired Sr. Vice President of OPPD. Born in Charter Oak, Iowa; graduated from Fremont, Nebraska High School. Served 4 ½ years in the U. S. Coast Guard. Graduated from Midland College in Fremont, Nebraska, and Iowa State University in 1949 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Married Jeanette Hauptly in 1947. Employed at OPPD in Omaha as a lineman in 1949 and retired from OPPD in 1986. Gear was an avid golfer and talented woodworker. He and Jeanette enjoyed travel and were able to visit more than 26 countries and 36 states. They were members of Bethany Lutheran Church, Omaha Community Playhouse, and Omaha Symphony for more than 50 years. Gear is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jeanette Bahle; daughters and sons-in-law: Susan Higgins of Carson, Iowa, Nancy and Dr. Bernard Bogard of San Diego, California, Anita Bahle and husband Jerry Slack of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Anthony Higgins (fiancée, Alma Martinez), Casey Seeger, Ben Higgins, Nick Higgins; Michelle Bailey (Brian), Lisa Hobson (Dave), and Mark Bogard; great-grandsons, Ethan Higgins and Elliott Bailey; sister, Darlene Hepperley of Concordia, Kansas. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. PRIVATE SERVICES. Memorials are suggested to Nebraska Humane Society or Bethany Lutheran Church at 51st and Military in Omaha.
