BOORTZ, Gertrude H., Sep 19, 1915 May 4, 2010. Widow of Wilbert J. Bill Boortz, owner of former Clark Drug, Taffee Drug and Connolly Drug; founding President of Mercy Hospital Guild; member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church; active in Council Bluffs Service League and Council Bluffs Mardi Gras (former chair). She was especially proud of her flower gardens on Big Sand Lake in Park Rapids, MN, where she spent summers and hosted many visitors. Survived by daughters: Kay Farrell and husband Bill, Phyllis deHaan and husband Peter; grandchildren: John P. Farrell, William Wiff Farrell Jr. and wife Jane, Catherine A. Proctor, Merrily K. Bond, Stephen B. deHaan and wife Sherri; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Ethel Allerton. SERVICES Saturday, 10am, St. Pauls Episcopal Church, 22 Dillman Drive, Council Bluffs. Interment, Ridgewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, 5pm-7pm at Cutler ONeill Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to National Safety Council/Greater Omaha Chapter, or to St. Pauls Episcopal Church.
