Bowles, Gladys H. Nov 5, 1913 – Mar 26, 2009 Omaha. Passed away at her home in Omaha. Her husband, Bowlman T. Bowles and her daughter, Kimball Bowles Lauritzen, preceded her in death. Mrs. Bowles was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Robert Willard Hasselle and Gladys McKay Hasselle. Mrs. Bowles grew up in Chattanooga where she attended Girls Preparatory School. She was a graduate of Sophie Newcomb College at Tulane University. She married Bowlman Tarleton Bowles, an attorney in Richmond, VA and then Chattanooga, where he later became a judge. The Bowles had three children, Bowlman T. Bowles, Jr. of Richmond; Dr. Robert H. Bowles of Charleston, SC; and Kimball McKay Bowles of Omaha, who was married to Bruce Lauritzen. Mrs. Bowles moved to Omaha in 1984, a few years following the death of her husband. Before moving to Omaha, Mrs. Bowles was active in numerous church related and civic endeavors in Chattanooga. Mrs. Bowles was a member of the Colonial Dames of America and was active in the support of All Saints Episcopal Church. While in Omaha, her favorite pastime was looking after her grandchildren, friends and playing bridge. She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, nine grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren residing in Nebraska, Kansas City, Virginia and South Carolina.
