Glenndean E. Jareske
August 29, 1928 – August 10, 2025
After a blessed life of 96 years, Glenndean passed away peacefully at home on August 10, 2025.
The youngest of five children, she was born in Atkinson, Nebraska on August 29, 1928, to Harry and Emma Slaymaker, according to Glenndean, “The Best Parents in the World.” She loved being raised on a farm and sharing stories of her upbringing.
In her early years, she taught at a small country school near Valley, NE. At the age of 18, she married her beloved husband of 74 years, Joe Jareske, on September 24, 1946, in O’Neill NE.
Shortly afterwards, they moved to Omaha and began raising their family of nine children. Their life together centered around their Catholic faith, providing a loving home, and sacrificing much for their children.
Glenndean enjoyed reading, especially the daily newspaper, talking on the phone with family and friends, going to the casinos and spending time with her many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved music and was an avid sports fan.
In her last days, she found much joy sitting outside in the sunshine, caring for her two dogs, Hami and Sully, and looking at family photos and greeting cards she had received over many years; too hard to throw away because of her cherished memories.
She was a wonderful caregiver from the time she was young and never wanted anything in return. She loved to laugh, and her life was filled with many joyful times, as well as difficulties, which she overcame with faith, family and her strong spirit.
She always put others first, even until the very end, insisting on taking care of her own needs, so as not to be a burden to those she loved. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joe of 74 years; and son, Harry.
She is survived by her eight children: Patty Neppl (Ray), Mike Jareske (Beth), Dan Jareske, Kathy McCullough (Roger), Tim Jareske, Tom Jareske, Kevin Jareske (Joan), and Michelle Harris (Bob); 15 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
