Gloria Carsrud
July 10, 1935 – November 11, 2021
Gloria Carsrud, born on July 10, 1935, was the daughter of Frank and Alma Dunning. She was raised in South Dakota. After graduating from high school, Gloria attended nursing school at Sioux Falls McKennan Hospital and graduated in 1956.
Gloria was united in marriage to James A. Carsrud on June 29, 1957. The newlyweds lived in Sioux Falls, SD, for six months before moving to Omaha, NE. Gloria worked as an Evening Charge Nurse at Bergan Mercy Hospital for 18 years and at Papillion Manor Nursing Home for 6 years before retiring in 1995. She cherished her time working as a nurse and developed many lasting friendships with co-workers. Her patients adored her.
Gloria spent the last ten-plus years of her life at Millard Good Samaritan Nursing Home. She made new friends, occasionally played bingo and attended church, and thoroughly enjoyed her time there—it was home. She was notorious for stashing candy in her room.
Grateful for having shared Gloria’s life are her daughters, Cindy Caniglia and Janelle Wolfe; grandchildren: Carly and husband Joe Cannon, Ross Caniglia and wife Billie, Leanne (Tristan), Jamie and Bryan Wolfe; several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and a host of special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister; and her beloved husband, James Carsrud.
