Gloria Jean “Sis” Davis was born September 11, 1944 in Somerset, Pennsylvania to Glenn R. and Dorothy (nee Croyle) Singo. She passed away at home on October 28, 2024, in Glenwood Iowa surrounded by family, formally of Acosta and Somerset.
Gloria (mom) lived in Somerset, Pennsylvania, for more than twenty years before relocating to Glenwood, Iowa, three years ago, where she made her home with her daughter and son-in-law. During her time in Iowa, she found joy in shopping and visiting the casino, Bingo, sightseeing and visiting family and friends. Our trips to St Joes for lunch to be with family are things she enjoyed most. Additionally, she cherished the opportunity to participate in a variety of celebrations, including birthdays, weddings, and holidays, which allowed her to create lasting memories with family and friends.
Looking back on life, I find myself wondering whether we ever took the time to express our gratitude for everything she has done for us. You were always there, standing by us to celebrate our victories and to help us navigate our losses. I often think about whether we acknowledged the little things, like your generosity in cooking enough to share with everyone, always making sure no one felt left out. Your ability to connect with anyone, turning strangers into friends with your playful spirit, is something I cherish. If we overlooked expressing our thanks for these moments, let me take this opportunity to do so now. I hope you have always felt the immense love and appreciation we have for you. Our hearts may not have been prepared for you to leave, but you have earned your wings, so soar high—you truly deserve it. You faced so many challenges and beat the odds, but it was time for God to bring you home. Those who lovingly called you Grandma, Aunt Sissy, sis, sister, and mom will forever hold you dear in their hearts. Your absence will be greatly felt by all who knew her
Gloria is survived by her children: Lori (Greg) Parrott from Missouri, Glenn Davis from Iowa, Patti (Dennis) Zongker from Omaha, Linda (Steve) Meinders from Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; siblings: Donald (Sandi) Singo Kansas, Ronald (Frances) Singo Acosta, Robert (Dolly) Singo Kansas and Shirley Carolus Rockwood.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Curtis J. Davis; sister-in-law, Janet Singo; brother-in-law, Donald Carolus.
Visitation, Friday November 8, 2024 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm, at Hauger Ziegler Funeral Home, 494 Main Street, Somerset, PA Funeral service 11:00 am Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Hauger-Zielger Funeral Home. Interment at Somerset Memorial Park, Somerset, PA.
