GOLDEN, Dona Lee (Bolin)

Dona Lee (Bolin) Golden Mar 13, 1931 – Nov 21, 2015 Dona Lee Golden, a long-time resident of Omaha Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Methodist Hospital from complications of pneumonia. Dona was born in Northfield, Minnesota to Eugene and Marge Bolin. She received numerous advanced degrees from the University of Iowa B.A. in Art, Minneapolis Institute of Art and Design, University of Nebraska-Omaha B.A. in Education and a Master’s in Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Dona taught Art in Waterloo Public Schools. She was an avid golfer, teaching golf in Waterloo. Dona was an artist, publishing art in the Art of the National Parks National Publication, longtime member of the Old Market Artist Cooperative Gallery, a founding member of the Artist Retreat at Camp Calvin Crest, traveled and participated in art shows all over the Midwest, and loved painting and wood block printing. She bicycled across Nebraska with two of her kids as a part of Bicycle Ride Across Nebraska. Dona and her family spent many summers in the Boundary Waters Canoe area of northern Minnesota. Dona traveled and lived in numerous places including South Africa for six months in 1961 with her husband, Darrell and daughter. Lived in Le Sueur, Minnesota; lived in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin and Omaha, Nebraska for 46 years. She is survived by her husband, Darrell Golden; children: Victoria Meyer (Brian), Sarah Abernathy (David), and David Golden (Krista); grandchildren: Gillian and Emily Golden. Alexander, Kaitlyn and Jason Abernathy and Eleanor Meyer. We will always carry her memory in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dona’s name to Camp Calvin Crest in Fremont Nebraska. MEMORIAL SERVICE Tuesday, December 22nd at 11am at the West Center Chapel.
