Gregg S. Rueschhoff

Rueschhoff, Gregg S.

May 17, 1960 – Dec 31, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Gregg Rueschhoff announces his sudden passing on December 31, 2018.  Gregg was born on May 17, 1960 in West Point, NE.  Gregg is lovingly remembered by his wife of 36 years, Janet (Graybeal) Rueschhoff, his two children, Jason Rueschhoff and Lisa Rueschhoff, his daughter-in-law Jiear Rueschhoff and son-in-law Rod Trice.  Gregg was recently a proud new grandfather to Jemma Rueschhoff, born June, 2018.  Gregg also leaves behind his mother Janice Rueschhoff, his siblings, Jeff (Tracy) Rueschhoff, Jerry (Jodi) Rueschhoff, Julie Schmidt and Steve (Darcie) Rueschhoff, mother-in-law Leona Graybeal, and many nieces and nephews.  Gregg was preceded in death by his father, Leo Rueschhoff, and most recently by his father-in-law Dick Graybeal, who passed away in October, 2018.

Gregg’s quick wit and zest for life made him a fast friend of many.  Gregg had a way of making everyone he connected with feel special, whether they were a family member, lifelong friend, or a cashier at the local Menards or Costco.  Gregg possessed a generous and giving spirit and built many of his hobbies and pastimes around generating happiness by sharing with others.  This was true of his passion for creating BBQ or other culinary delicacies. He was his happiest when out at the lake with family or friends, always excited to take anyone out for a jet ski or boat ride.  Gregg had close connections to numerous people through his various interests.  As a result, he leaves behind a multitude of family and friends who will miss him dearly.

Gregg was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather and was often the epicenter for his extended family.  He was a natural teacher and trusted counselor for all who knew him, always giving sound advice when asked.  He was very proud of his children, whom he and Janet raised to be wonderful adults.  He was also very fond of their dog, Buster, and grand-dog, Baylee, whom he spoiled relentlessly.

In addition to his devotion to family, Gregg had an accomplished career as a pension consultant and Enrolled Actuary for over thirty years.  He was also an Associate of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.  Gregg was a Principal at Milliman.  Gregg was a practical and engaging consultant, and his clients loved his down-to-earth, hard-working style.  His fellow consultants remember him for his ability to take complicated pension reports and boil them down to easily understandable conclusions.

We are praying for you Janet and your family. Greg had the best smile and laugh! Just thinking of it brings one to my face. My kids also enjoyed their time with “Uncle” Gregg as he let them call him that- which makes sense because in every way possible, Gregg was the embodiment of everyone’s favorite uncle. It was truly a blessing getting to know him for the short time we had with him. Please know that your extended family here on the lake will be available to assist in anyway possible.

Jan, you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Gregg made me feel like a family member and was always the first to suggest we do something fun, like take the jet ski out or the ATVs down to the river. He patiently taught me how to use both and being at the lake won’t be the same without him. He is dearly missed.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I worked with Gregg on the many pension issues that we had with the City of Omaha and in all my dealings with him, he always demonstrated his unwavering commitment, intelligence and wit. I know that without his unheralded work, the City’s pension systems would not be at the points of recovery that they currently reside at today. He will be missed.

  • Gary Clatterbuck Posted January 3, 2019 1:04 pm

It was my pleasure to share much of my professional life in recent years with Gregg in “slaying dragons” for our pension plan clients. Gregg was truly a consulting actuary without peer; his knowledge and skills were so good that he could actually get this attorney to understand some of the actuarial science (magic) he was practicing on behalf of our clients.
I truly considered Gregg to be a friend in my professional life and will deeply miss having him as a trusted and most valuable resource. My deepest sympathy to Janet, the Family and all his good friends.

I’m very sorry for your loss. I’ve known Gregg for many years through our work at Milliman, Having originally grown up in Omaha, and then moving out to the West Coast, I would seek Gregg out at our company functions to chat and hang out. He would always light up when talking about his family. He was one of the nicest persons I’ve ever met. He will be missed.

My deepest sympathies to Janet, family, and friends. I had the pleasure of working with Gregg on several mutual pension plan clients. Gregg’s keen intellect, knowledge of all things actuarial, and sense of humor made the projects go smoothly and produced excellent results for the clients. Gregg’s expertise and good nature will be missed by myself and those who had the pleasure of working with him.
