Private law practice, Lincoln; assistant U.S. Attorney, 1954-61; attorney with Prudential Insurance, 1961-71; Area Director of H.U.D., 1971-78; H.U.D., Washington, D.C., 1978-81. Member of Countryside Community Church since 1962, Nebraska Bar Association, Rotary, and Golden K Kiwanis. Preceded in death by parents, Rev. Guy R. and Helen Nyrop Birch; brothers, Wesley and Dean Birch. Survived by wife, Lois; children: Richard (Patricia) Birch, Ann Birch (Fred Floyd), Patricia Birch (Roger Bruhn); grandchildren, Christopher (Kristina) Birch and James (Valerie) Birch; nieces and nephew. MEMORIAL SERVICE Friday, 1pm, Countryside Community Church, 8787 Pacific. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Countryside Community Church or The Salvation Army.
