Gwendolyn Joyce Elizabeth Arnold
June 27, 2018 – September 22, 2023
Gwendolyn was born to Richard Arnold and Berlyn Coleman in Maryville, Tennessee, on June 27, 2018. She was the happiest little girl with the most beautiful blue eyes and a contagious smile. As she grew her love for her family, her love for the Lord also grew. Gwendolyn loved learning from her big brother and in turn helping out with her younger sisters. She liked to keep busy with puzzles and crafts. Gwendolyn especially enjoyed hearing Bible stories and attending Fr. Don’s church.
Gwendolyn touched many hearts and souls during her short time with us. At age four she was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a very aggressive cancer. She endured a year of treatment with grace and courage. She easily adapted to her new way of life. “Girlfriend was rockin it” in her bubble gum pink wheelchair on her first day of kindergarten. No matter what the day had in store, she was determined to live her life to the fullest. Whether she had a visit at the clinic, a pink tea party or was spending time with her family, her love and sass always led the way.
On Friday, September 22, 2023, Gwendolyn left her mother’s loving arms to go home to her pink room in the House of the Lord. Her strength and tenacity live on our hearts each and every day. Memory Eternal!
Gwendolyn is survived by her father, Richard Arnold; mother; Berlyn Coleman; brother, Mason Coleman; sisters, Avaline and Rosalind Arnold; Grandparents, Great-Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and many Friends.
A special thank you to all of the caregivers and friends at Children’s Hospital, Madonna Rehabilitation, UNMC, and Endless Journey Hospice for providing the tools for Gwendolyn to have a wonderful quality of life this past year.
