As one of Hal’s first cousins, I have many fond memories of playing with him as a child. Hal loved baseball, and he cheerfully played catch with me often, even though I was one of the most uncoordinated ballplayers around. We also spent many hours during the winter months trading stamps and building our stamp collections. Although both of us moved away from Omaha as adults, we kept in touch, and I was privileged to meet Hal’s wonderful kids Serena and Matthew a few years back. The last time I visited Hal was about four years ago, and even though he was struggling with serious illness then, I was amazed at how he kept such a cheerful, positive attitude and sense of humor. Hal, you were a great inspiration to all of us, by always striving to make the best of life despite the misfortunes that came your way, and showing us that there was value in living every day. You will be fondly remembered and truly missed. Your cousin, Steve
Just today 6/10/20 I found out that Hal passed away.
He and I grew up in Jr and High school and then were fraternity brothers in college
He used to pick me up for fraternity meetings and school
He was a generous, loving soul
We… we will all love him dearly
