Donald H. Hammel Jul 22, 1925 – Jun 11, 2016 Don Hammel was born on July 22, 1925 in Lyons, Nebraska and died on June 11, 2016 in Lincoln. Formerly of Omaha/Ralston, Don was a jazz lover, retired realtor, Korean War veteran, and former president of Omaha Ski Club. Preceded in death by wife, Ruth. Survived by daughter, PK Hammel of Madison, Wisconsin; sons, Paul (Nancy) of Lincoln, Nebraska and Bill (Elise) of Anchorage, Alaska; six grandchildren. CELEBRATION OF LIFE Saturday, July 2nd, from 2pm to 4pm at one of Dads favorite places, Shucks Fish House and Oyster Bar, 1218 S. 119th St., just south of 119th & Pacific. Well have some of his old jazz buddies playing music, including Ron Cooley, Gooch and Carol Rogers. Memorials are suggested to the Central Asia Institute or John Neihardt Foundation.
