Heather A. Johnson

Heather A. Johnson

February 3, 1967 – September 25, 2018

Heather died on September 25th, 2018 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her family.

Heather was a bright light in many lives. She was a caring soul, spontaneous and fun. Heather was easy to talk to, whether you had just met her or had known her your entire life. She cherished spending time with her friends and was always busy attending social events in Omaha and surrounding areas. Some of her favorite activities included dining out (she never missed an opportunity for dessert), attending concerts, dancing, traveling, and watching B-horror movies. Her favorite holiday was Halloween, and she loved getting dressed up every year and celebrating with friends.

Heather was extremely passionate about animals of every kind and spent time volunteering at the Nebraska Humane Society and Nebraska Wildlife Rehab. She had many different pets over the years, including fish, mice, ferrets, and chinchillas.  Nothing compared to her three beloved Chinese Foo dogs: Puff, Nala, and Wei Shan.

Heather touched many lives through the gift of organ donation. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard. She is survived by her mother, Laurie; sister, Carrie all of Omaha; brother, Corey and wife Gina, and nephew, Hoyt of St. Paul, MN; aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 5th, from 6pm to 8pm at the West Center Chapel.  Mass of Christian Burial:  Saturday, October 6th at 10:30am at Mary Our Queen Catholic Church, 3405 S. 118th St.  Private Inurnment: Resurrection Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Mary Our Queen Church, Nebraska Humane Society, or Nebraska Wildlife Rehab.

I’m so saddened at the loss of my beautiful cousin. She was a beautiful soul, fun loving, and had energy that would like up any room. I didn’t know that Thursday night would be the last time that we got to hug. She will be missed by so many. A life taken to soon. Rest in peace Heather with your dad and your dogs.

Heather you will be deeply missed. Thanks for making life richer. Sadly, I know the text or Facebook message I’m waiting for from you to plan our next Omaha culture outing will not be coming. The Omaha Travel & Culture Meetup Group will not be the same without you – that’s for sure. You lit up the room with your kindness, spirit and smile. My deepest sympathies to the entire family. Rest in Peace in heaven with your beloved dad and dogs, my friend. Such a tragic loss.

I met Heather 10 years ago at NHS, where she trained me in the Lost and Found Department. I remember after her shift that night, she was going out to release some bats that NHS was caring for. Though I only met her a few times, I found her to be very sweet, kind, and a huge animal lover. My condolences to the family during this very difficult time.

    Mrs. Johnson, Corey, and Carrie,
I am so sorry to hear of Heather’s passing. I remember all of our times we spent together as families with my parents, Jay and Marge Welch and Craig and Mary. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you in this time of sorrow.

Heather touched my children’s lives, helping me get them into a Humane Society camp, which they absolutely loved, and my daughter now wants to work with animals as a Veterinary Technician. A dear soul, Heather will be missed.
