Heinz W. “Ben” Sievers

SIEVERS, Heinz W. “Ben” Jul 28, 1925 – Oct 6, 2014 Age 89, of Ralston, Nebraska, died on Monday, October 6th. He was born on July 28, 1925, at home in Omaha to the late Jacob H. “Jake” and Emma D. Stamp Sievers. He attended grade schools in David City and Omaha (Castelar Grade School), graduated from Omaha South High School, and attended University of Nebraska-Omaha, completing correspondence courses. He spent more than four years in the U. S. Navy during World War II, and during the Korean War he served as a torpedo man on submarine tenders and submarines. Ben was a Registered Professional Architect (A-703) in the State of Nebraska, having held positions at Henningson, Durham and Richardson, Northern Natural Gas Co., Leo A. Daly Co., and Dana Larson Roubal and Associates; he retired from the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers-Omaha District. During his lifetime Ben was a proud member of: American Institute of Architects; Construction Specifications Institute; Society of American Military Engineers; Past State Commander of the U. S. Submarine Veterans of WWII-Nebraska Wahoo Chapter; U. S. Submarine Veterans, Inc.-Nebraska Base; Past Post Commander of The Ralston American Legion Post 373; National American Legion Press Association; Millard VFW Post 8334; FOE South Omaha Aerie 154; German-American Society, Inc.; Celiac Sprue Association/USA Inc.; Covert No. 11 Masonic Lodge; Scottish Rite Valley of Omaha; Tangier Shrine; Nebraska Admirals Association; National Association of Retired Federal Employees; Retired Omaha District Employee Organization. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 66 years, Helen E. (Schlichtig) Sievers; brother, Hans and sister-in-law, Vera; brother-in-law, Stanton LeMoind. He is survived by son, Larry Sievers (Yvonne); daughter, Robin R. Muth (Raymond); grandchildren; Michelle, Sheila, Stacey, Jed, and Heather; great-grandchildren; Desiree, Chloe, Reese, Brynn, Brooke, and Autumn; sister, Edith M. LeMoind. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 8th from 6pm to 8pm at the West Center Chapel. SERVICES Thursday, October 9th at 1pm, West Center Chapel. Interment, Evergreen Memorial Park with military rites by Ralston American Legion Post 373. Memorials are suggested to Ralston American Legion Post 373.
