Helen J. Matya

MATYA, Helen J., Jun 22, 1924 – Apr 23, 2009, of Omaha. Helen Matya passed away peacefully on Thursday afternoon surrounded by her loving family. Helen was born in Wakefield, NE and grew up on the family farm near Emerson, NE. After high school graduation, she moved to Omaha, NE and pursued her career as a beautician. Helen dedicated her life to being a homemaker, raising her family and living a wonderful life with her loving husband of 66 years, Clarence. She lived her life to the fullest enjoying her six daughters, eighteen grandchildren, and twenty-eight great grandchildren. Helen was a blessing to everyone she knew with her enthusiasm for life, her loving nature, and her strength of faith. Preceded in death by parents, Andrew and Hannah Olson; sister, Violet Tompkins; brothers, George Olson, and Allen Olson. Survived by husband, Clarence Matya; daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Ed Stanek, Cheryl and Bob Foral, Andrea and Gage Hazen, Karen and Jim Strobel, Dianne and John Scott, Deb and Mark Munro; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: E.J. Stanek and wife Krista; Zack and Ashley, Julie Smith and husband Kirby; Kylie, Courtney, and Sydney, Greg Stanek and wife Julie; Hannah, Mark Stanek and wife Amy; Olivia, Isabel, Gillian, Ava, and Henry, Becky Carrico and husband Scott; Macey and Whitney, Amy Marshall and husband Brian; David and Madilyn, Rob Foral and wife Shelby; R.J., Haley, and Harrison, Scott Foral and wife Mindy; Maya and Hudson, Nick Foral and wife Kelly; Mirabella and Delainey, Matt Hazen and wife Beth; Jackson, Ella, and Reid, Jeff Hazen and wife Angie; Colson and Luke, Sara Hazen, Allison Strobel, Beth Scott-Stenglein; Edie, Melissa Scott, J.D. Scott, Chris Munro and wife Lindsey, and Jessica Munro; sisters: Jean Culbertson of Dakota City, NE, Taffy Geith of Riverside, CA, and Donna Magnolo of Phoenix, AZ. A Celebration of Helen’s life will be held with a MASS at Christ the King Church, 654 South 86th Street, Omaha, NE Monday April 27, 2009 at 10:00 am. Entombment will be at Resurrection Mausoleum. VIEWING for family and friends will begin at 9:00am Monday at Christ the King Church. VISITATION will be Sunday April 26, 2009 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm with ROSARY at 3:00pm at Christ the King Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ the King Art Foundation or Heartland Family Service Children’s Emergency Shelter.
