Helen K. (Gottsche) Barnes

Helen K. Barnes, passed away on January 9, 2024, at the age of 93 at Echo Hills Memory Care Facility in Omaha, Nebraska. She was born on August 20, 1930, in Pierce, Nebraska. Helen was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Early in her career, Helen worked as a phone operator for Northwestern Bell. Later on, she dedicated her time to being a homemaker and supporting her husband, Jack. Helen was known for her immaculate housekeeping skills and her love for reading. Helen was always baking some type of dessert. She was not one to pass up a cookie or a chocolate treat. She also enjoyed playing Bunco and cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Helen is survived by her son, Doug and his wife, Kate of Omaha; her daughter, Barb and her husband, Rob Slusher of Scottsdale, AZ; her son, Jim and his wife, Michelle of Omaha. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Barnes.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate Helen’s life will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Heafey Hoffmann Dworak & Cutler, located at 7805 W Center Road in Omaha, Nebraska. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am followed by a service at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests any memorials to the Barnes’ family for a charity of choice.
