Henrietta J. Grewe
September 7, 1930 – April 28, 2023
Henrietta Josephine “Etta” (Knievel) Grewe was born September 7, 1930, in West Point, Nebraska. Etta was the tenth and last child of Bernard and Helen (Meister) Knievel. Etta attended Guardian Angels “GA” Catholic school from first grade through high school, graduating in 1948. She met her husband of nearly 68 years, Arthur J. “Art” Grewe, at GA. They married on August 22, 1950, and had four children – Patrick, Brian, Brenda, and Roy. Etta and Art raised their children on their farm southwest of West Point. Etta was an attentive homemaker, gardener, and partner in the family’s dairy and beef farm operations. She and Art were active members of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, where Etta also was a member of Christian Mothers and a CCD teacher.
Etta and Art left the farm in 1985, moving to Omaha where Etta opened a day care business in her home. Etta ran her day care as she did her home, with attention to details and love. The kids loved her cooking and baking. She ran her business until 1996. In Fall of 1997, Etta and Art moved to Casa Grande, AZ where they frequently entertained family and friends in their beautiful home and backyard. Etta and Art returned to Omaha in January 2017 and became residents at St. John Vianney Residence. Following Art’s passing in February 2018, Etta became a mass lector at JVR and arranged the flowers for the chapel. She also enjoyed baking cookies, muffins, and other goodies to share with her family and the other JVR residents.
Etta was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved taking care of other people. She continued to cook and bake for her family until only a few weeks before she passed away. Etta peacefully passed away at her JVR home on April 28, 2023.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur J. Grewe; sons, Brian and Roy B. Grewe; parents, Bernard and Helen (Meister) Knievel. She is survived by her son, Patrick Grewe (Mary); daughter, Brenda Grewe; grandchildren: Jeffrey Grewe (Amy), Jared Grewe, Erika Leicht, and Curtis Leicht (Emi); great-grandchildren, Miles Grewe and Roy Grewe.

Let things remembered bring you peace.
The last time I saw Etta, she told me, with such enthusiasm, how happy she was with her move to JVR. She loved, not only her space, but the community itself. This morning, I thought, Etta must be really loving Heaven.
My condolences to her family, especially Pat, Jeff and Jared.
Hi Patrick, Great that you & your family were close & able to spend so much time with your mom.
You set a good example for us, as did your mom for you. It is to your credit, both. Thankfully, Oscar
