Henry Hinkel age 92 of Mondamin, Iowa passed away on Friday, October 14, 2016 at Good Samaritan in Omaha, Nebraska. Henry was born August 21, 1924 Pisgah, Iowa to George and Cora (Voss) Hinkel. After graduating from High School, Henry served in the Army-Air Force during WW II. He was married to Connie Lang, July 25, 1964 in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1973 they moved back to Mondamin from LaMirada, California. Henry was in construction and he owned and operated Hinkel Construction for many years. Connie passed away March 25, 1985. During his military service he attained the rank of Corporal and received Battle Stars for the battle of Guam, and the battle of Okinawa and a Good Conduct Metal. Henry is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, wife Connie, son Ithel, sister Ruth, grandsons Gregg and Jacob. Survivors include his daughter: Marta Janousek (Joe) of Fremont, Nebraska; son: Henry Hinkel (Larissa) of St. John, USVI; daughter: Jerie Karsko of Anoka, Minnesota; son: Randy Hervey (Barbara) St. John, USVI; daughter: Tammie Hervey of St. John, USVI; brother: Norman Hinkel of Alamo, Texas, 10 grandkids, and 12 great grandkids. Prayer Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday with visitation to follow at the Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa. Military Honors will be conducted at the graveside by the VFW Post 6256 and OHara Seeley Post. The family invites everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at the Methodist Church in Missouri Valley immediately following the service.
