HOFFART, Richard L., “Rick”

Richard “Rick” L. Hoffart Mar 9, 1951 – Dec 19, 2016 Rick Hoffart was born on March 9, 1951 in Plainview, NE to Robert and Jean (Lund) Hoffart. Rick grew up and attended country school in Plainview. He was confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Rick graduated from Plainview High School in 1969 and attended Kearney State College for two years. On December 9, 1972 he married Myra M. Parks at Faith Lutheran Church in Hastings, Nebraska. Rick and Myra have three sons: James “Jim”, Raymond “Ray”, and Thomas “Tom”. They spent their years raising their family in Hastings, Columbus, and eventually back to the family farm in Plainview. Rick enjoyed fishing, camping with the boys, bowling, coaching the boys’ teams in a variety of sports, watching his grandchildren grow, walking, and golfing later in life. Rick will be remembered for his sense of humor, generosity, his ability to tell a joke (and always having one ready), and his love for family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert “Bob” and Jean Hoffart of Plainview. He is survived by his wife, Myra of Omaha, Nebraska; his sons: Jim (Wanda) Hoffart of Westminister, California, Ray Hoffart of Huntersville, North Carolina, and Tom (Andrea) Hoffart of Omaha, Nebraska; his grandchildren: Brandy, Andrew, Matthew, Lincoln, and Lucas; sisters, Kathy (Joe) Herian of Norfolk, Nebraska and Glenda (Dave) McGrew of Norfolk, Nebraska; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. SERVICES Thursday, Dec. 22nd, 10:30 a.m. at Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church, 15005 “Q” St. Interment, Mount Auburn Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association.
