We feel so fortunate to have enjoyed so many fun times with the Judge and his family at the lake. Mary…you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Tom will be greatly missed. So many travels, so many memories. The entire Mcquade family in our prayers. RIP our friend. ✝️
I knew Tom many years ago when I did some carpentry work at his house. I am sure he will be missed by family and friends.
So sorry to hear of Tom’s passing. Blessings and prayers to Mary and the family.
McQuaid was one of my best buddies all through grade school and high school at St. Cecilia’s Cathedral. He was always fun to be around. He was a big fan of the extraordinary singer and guitarist Roy Orbison and especially of the song “Only the Lonely”. When we got to be old enough to have a drivers license he was the first one to show up behind the wheel of his parent’s car; a new Mercury. Us guys were floored and we spent a perfect autumn afternoon tooling around town in style. Those were the days. We thought they’d never end.
Mary,, Mark, Mandy and Missy we are thinking of you during this time of loss. Remembering all the great times and babysitting! We love you all and know that Tom has gone home and one day we will all be together. Love the Grosse-Rhode family
so Sorry to hear of his passing he was a very good neighbor and person
A great guy who happened to be a great judge. Rip
May he rest in peace and power. He was a great professor and teacher. He taught me Oil & Gas Law. Judge Thomas was wise, kind, friendly, and supportive.
Mark, So sorry for your loss. Your dad was a fun loving guy and I try to model my adjunct teaching at CU after him. I’ll always remember the video skit you two did for Sr. night before graduation. Take care Buddy.
Judge McQuade taught me how to best conduct a trial during law school. His insights into the best courtroom strategies has been invaluable to me. Additionally, I enjoyed his wicked sense of humor. He was such a kind man and even took my calls after law school concluded. He will be missed. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.
Rest in Peace Judge McQuade. I spent a lot of time in your Court room and have always respected you as a Judge. God Bless Mary and your kids.
In the early 1990’s, new County Judges were sent to spend a few days “seeing how it was done” in Omaha. That is where I first met Tom. For the next almost 20 years, every Spring and Fall Judges’ Meeting, he and I would be sure to spend some time together.
Many life lessons were shared and world problems resolved with so much laughter. Wow, that man could laugh!
Tom was a great fan of Western Nebraska and was absolutely thrilled to be out this way when any meeting was scheduled west of Lincoln.
Tom, you will be missed.
Judge McQuade was my favorite professor at Creighton Law School. His experience and humor made learning more fun than work. Once in a while I would run into him at Travado’s in Dundee. I am so sorry for your loss. He will always be remembered fondly.

I am so very sorry to see of Judge McQuade’s passing. He was my Oil and Gas Law Professor in law school. I worked with his wife, Mary during my time in law school (1991-1994). I learned more law and practical information in that one – 3 hour night class simply because of the quality of teacher he was and how generous he was with his time and knowledge. Sorry to the entire McQuade family during this time. God speed, your Honor.
Tom: You made the practice of law enjoyable. May God be with you. Terry
Judge McQuaid was an influence upon me as a prosecutor and ultimately as an attorney. Condolences to his son Mark and the entire family.
Good Judge and good person. Glad to see he will receive a Christian Burial. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.
Judge McQuade taught me oil and gas, and swore me into the bar. Always there to lend an ear when I was a young public defender. God Bless his soul and family.
Tom was a great guy and a great judge. He is mourned by the Judiciary.
The stories I could tell about Tom are too fun and numerous to relate here. Let’s just say he was a great friend, for a long time, and I’m very sad. RIP, Tom. You are loved, Mary.
He was a great judge and very kind to a then young lawyer just learning the ropes. Was always there if you wanted to talk. Rest in Peace, your Honor.
One of my favorite professors in law school. Gave me so much great advice that I still use today.
My heart pours out for all of you… Mary, Mark, Mandy, Missy, and your extended family. I am so saddened for the loss of Judge McQuade. I feel so incredibly blessed I was able to be Judge McQuade’s secretary for many years. It never felt like a job… always felt like a family gathering and I couldn’t wait to get there every morning. I’ll never forget one Secretary’s Day gift was a lunch to Sons of Italy…. Well…. that one day turned into going every week! And many times we were blessed because the entire family got to come! And all the students Judge McQuade taught, interned, and whome he impacted their life forever. I was blessed with always hearing how much he meant to them. I can hear him now telling me to call everyone and let them know Choir Practice is on….. and now the angels are singing with him. You are all in my thoughts and prayers and I’m sending a holy hug to each one of you. Love, Debbie
My deepest sympathies to Judge McQuade’s family and friends. I had so many bench trials in front of him as a young public defender. I appreciated his humor and pragmatism from the bench and, when court was adjourned, he was generous with his time – telling us what we did wrong, what we did right, and sharing so many stories. I am lucky to have known him and practiced in his courtroom.
What a wonderful man; and my deepest heartfelt condolences to his wonderful wife, Mary, in a time of grief I can’t even imagine. Many a time I remember my father coming home after an evening at the interlude, extolling what went on with Tom there. I will miss you, Tom, and hope very much that you and my father are up there enjoying each other’s company once again, and finding the peace you both deserve,
Really going to miss Tom. I am so sorry for his lovely wife, Mary — his “Bride” as he often called her. He was a one of a kind human and friend. Hope he’s having fun with some of his old buddies (Nick Sloan, et al.). The whole Rensch family sends its condolences. Rest in Peace,
Mike Wellman had it exactly right. There are just too many McQuade stories for this space. Tom and Doc Shugrue managed to keep just sane enough to get through law school. I think of all the laughing I have done in my life, much of it was with Tom. I will greatly miss him. RIP, Tom
Deepest condolences to Mary and family. So sorry to hear about Tom passing. Will keep you all in our prayers
my condolences
There are not enough words to describe how special Tom was, he was a good human to us and our family. Years of fun and support in the old neighborhood, so many will miss his humor, compassion and kindness.
Dear Mary, Mark, Missy, Mandy and family. I am very sorry to hear of Tom’s passing. Although I haven’t heard from him in years, I always found him to be sincere, dedicated and someone who embraced life fully. I wish you all my best.
