Howard H. Morrison

MORRISON, Howard H., Sep 2, 1940 – Feb 14, 2012. Howard H. Morrison was born on a farm in Lincoln County, NE to parents Josephine (Hircock) Morrison and Lawrence “Bud” Morrison. Howard’s family moved to Tallin Table near Arnold where he attended Yucca Valley School and graduated from Arnold High School in 1957. He attended Kearney State College for two years before moving to Lusk, WY and working for Kilmer Dairy for two years after which he moved to North Platte, NE and worked in milk and cheese processing for Fairmont Foods for 18 years. He also worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 3 years after that in the car department. Howard married Linda Marie Stockall on November 18, 1962 in North Platte, NE. They had 2 children, Dan and Susan, that they raised in North Platte. In 2002, Howard and Linda moved to Omaha to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Howard was challenged by Multiple Sclerosis disease and battled through that debilitation for nearly 40 years. He was a member of Teamster local #554, past member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Elks BPO Lodge #985, and Buffalo Bills Cage Club at Mid-Plains Community College in North Platte. Howard followed sports all his life and was a Nebraska Cornhusker fan. He and his wife attended football, basketball, baseball and track sporting events whenever they could. Howard knew who played in just about any sport and could tell you the team’s record. If anyone wanted to know about a player they would call Howard. He loved to follow the careers of young people in sports from the time they were in high school and college and even into the professional ranks. Howard coached Little League baseball and braved any sort of weather elements to attend the sports games of his grandchildren. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, grandparents, mother and father-in-law, brother-in-law, and a special aunt, Anna Glaze. He is survived by his loving wife Linda; son, Dan Morrison (Jennifer) of Overland Park, KS; daughter, Susan Yelinek (Jim) of Omaha; six grandchildren: Tyler, Ryan, and Jacob Morrison, Hannah, Emily, and Andrew Yelinek; brother Duane Morrison (Barbara) of Douglas, WY; niece Julie Martinez; brother-in-law, Roger Stockall (Sandy) of Hershey and nephew Justin Stockall of Arnold, NE; brother-in-law Lynn Stockall of North Platte, NE; sister-in-law Vicki Stockall of Denver, CO; stepmother Lois Morrison of Broken Bow, NE; three stepsisters, a stepbrother and their spouses; many cousins and friends. MEMORIAL SERVICE Saturday, Feb 18, 3pm at First Presbyterian Church, 1901 West Leota in North Platte, NE. The family will also receive friends on Sunday, Feb 19, 4pm to 6pm at the West Center Chapel. Memorials are suggested to National Multiple Sclerosis Society/MidAmerica Chapter, or American Cancer Society.
