Howard H. Swaney, age 101, passed away on April 2, 2011 in Modale, Iowa. Howard was born on November 21, 1909 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to William C. and Maggie (Zentz) Swaney. Howard was married to Ethel Donnelson on April 18, 1931 and they lived in the Mondamin and Modale, Iowa areas. Ethel and Howard were married for 78 years. Howard farmed and was also a welder for Kelly Ryan for over 30 years. Survivors include daughters: Janice McGaughey and husband Mike of Redding, California; Patracia Goettsche and husband Kermit of Albuquerque, New Mexico; son: James Swaney of Blair, Nebraska; daughters: Maralyn Clark and husband Norman of Murrieta, California; Judy Neary of Branson, Missouri; son: Dennis Swaney and wife Sherri of Fremont, Nebraska; daughter: Linda Scheide of Modale, Iowa; nineteen grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. Howard was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ethel; and sons Harvey, Darwin and David. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home in Missouri Valley with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. The family would like to invite you to lunch and a time of fellowship at the church following the committal service.
