Stuben, Irene C. Sep 20, 1912 – Mar 23, 2009 Omaha. Died peacefully in her sleep March 23, 2009. She was born to Joseph and Elizabeth Laux in Omaha, NE, the youngest of seven children. She graduated Technical High School in 1929 and went to work as a bookkeeper for Swift & Company. She was also a PBX operator for Clarkson Memorial Hospital for many years. She married Harold Stuben and together they had five children. Irene was active in the Railroad Wives Club, a sewing club, PTA, a Girl Scout leader, social card club, volunteered in her Church, community, and was a WWII Red Cross Nurses Aide. She and her husband traveled extensively, both in the U.S. and overseas. Irene was passionate about history, family and genealogy, which she studied, told of and wrote about. She loved music, antiques, stamps, coins, and was very knowledgeable of all, and everyone benefited from her. Irene was preceded in death by husband, Harold Stuben; daughter, Cecilia Burke and son, William Stuben. She is survived by daughter, Mary Kanamine and husband, Ted Kanamine of Port St. Lucie, FL; sons Harold Stuben, Jr. and wife, Joan, of La Palma, CA; John Stuben and wife, Therese, of Wesley Chapel, FL; son in-law, Robert Burke of Cincinnati, OH; daughter-in-law, Claudia Stuben of Omaha, NE; 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and many loved nieces and nephews and cousins. Vigil Service Sunday, 4:00 p.m., West Center Chapel. SERVICES Monday, 11am West Center Chapel to St. Thomas More Catholic Church for Mass at 11:30am. Interment, Calvary Cemetery. Memorials, St. Thomas More Catholic Church or Creighton Prep.
