J. Irene Keller

November 10, 1927 – December 24, 2022

Irene Keller, 95, passed away unexpectedly on December 24, 2022, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.  She was born November 10, 1927, in Central City, Nebraska.  Daughter of John (Jack) Kelly and Pauline (Starrett) Kelly.  Irene attended Wayne State Teachers College and taught elementary school in Winslow, NE, as well as other locations.

She lived in North Bend, Nebraska, where she met her high school sweetheart, Dale E Keller.  They were married on August 9, 1949, and celebrated 54 years of marriage before Dale predeceased her on February 23, 2003.

Dale and Irene were early members of Holy Cross Catholic Church when the building was completed in 1955.  Irene served as a member of the Altar Society.  During her lifetime, she and Dale enjoyed Square Dancing, Bridge, traveling, and spending time with their children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dale, she was predeceased by her sister Jean Condon Brady.

Irene is survived by her sister Marilyn Givens of Mesa, AZ; children: Barbara (Bobbi) Shuey (Dean) of Seattle, WA; James Keller (Stacy) of Omaha, NE; Mark Keller (Sheila) of Omaha, NE; Dennis Keller (Kathy) of Omaha, NE; Steven Keller (Nancy) of Yountville, CA. Also survived by her grandchildren: James Jr. (Shantel), Chris, David, Luke, {Sarah), Kathleen Blaise (Mark), Noah (Taylor), Daniel, Michelle Jolley (Ron), Matt (Amber), and Jeremy (Heather); great-grandchildren: Alex, Benji, Lily, Asher, Alexandria, Sam, and Jonah.

A service of Remembrance / Vigil will be held at 7pm on January   2, 2023, at Heafey  Hoffmann  Dworak  Cutler – 7805 West Center Road, Omaha, NE 68124.  The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm

Funeral Mass will be held at 11am on January 3, 2023, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 4810 Woolworth Ave, Omaha NE 68106, Interment at Calvary Cemetery, 7710 West Center Road, 68124.  Luncheon to Follow at Holy Cross Church / St Edwards Hall.

The family requests that any donations be sent to either Holy Cross Church or the New Cassel Foundation.
