Retired Captain, Omaha Fire Department.  Survived by wife, Sylvia Griffey; daughter, Diana Young (Tim); sons, Mark Griffey (Kristin) and Jack Griffey (Valerie); 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday, May 14th from 4pm to 7pm at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 508 W. Angus St. in Gretna, with VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm at the church.  MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL Monday, May 15th at 10am, St. Patrick Catholic Church in Gretna.  GRAVESIDE SERVICE Monday, 1:30pm, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery with military honors by U.S. Marine Corps, Millard American Legion Post 374, and Millard VFW Post 8334.  Memorials are suggested to St. Patrick Catholic Church in Gretna or Patriotic Productions (to help send vets to Washington).

    I am saddened to hear of Jack’s death. My prayers and condolences to Sylvia and the family. I enjoyed the time that I spent working with Jack with Heartland REACT.

    I am so saddened to learn about Jack’s passing. I remember a lot of time while I was at Douglas County Emergency Management was spent with this truly wonderful man.
