Jacob Thomas Longacre

Jacob Thomas Longacre

April 15, 1989 – May 9, 2024

Jacob graduated from Millard West High School  in 2007 and attended Mankato State in Minnesota on a swimming scholarship.

Jake was born into a large loving family full of sports, brothers and family. He was always looking out for others whether family, classmates, or teammates.

Everyone who knew Jake was touched by his kind spirit, his availability to help others in need, his gift of listening and offering thoughtful advice, and his constant effort to try and improve himself.

Jake is survived by his parents, Mick and Stacy Longacre; his three brothers: Ryan, Hunter and Westin; his grandmother, Shirley Jakubowski; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jake will be forever missed by all who loved him. We know he was greeted by his grandma Rosie and Grandpa Arnie upon his arrival in heaven. They are probably talking about sports and their deep love of their family and friends.

I was Jacob’s college swimming coach at Minnesota State, Mankato. When I recruited him out of high school was impressed with what he had accomplished as someone who didn’t have much experience in the sport. He was a great athlete and had all the physical traits of an elite swimmer. Jake was a hard worker who put a lot of time and intention into refining his skills. He was always looking for feedback and ways to improve. He was an amazing teammate who truly cared for those around him and always put the team before himself. I’ll always remember Jacob as a gentle giant who was kind and respectful to his teammates and coaches. Rest in peace Xerxes. Your Maverick Swimming family will miss you. – Coach Buzz

I miss you, Xerx. We had an amazing four years in college, and the summer we spent training together on Vancouver Island will always remain special to me. You were funny, kind, smart, and a great friend and listener. My life truly is better because you were a part of it. I hope you finally find peace wherever you are now.

We shared so many inside jokes and had so many great times together, both in and out of the pool. You were a rare, unique person that always saw things just a bit differently than everyone else. I really respected and admired that about you.

I’ll miss you so much, bro. We all will.
