Mark: I am deeply saddened to learn of Jackie’s passing. I only chanced to meet her once, in a legislative hearing room at our Nebraska State Capitol, where you and I gathered with many other blind people to request more funding for the Commission for the Blind to serve Nebraska’s older blind citizenry. But even in that brief meeting, I thought “Now here is someone I would love to know better.” She felt like a friend, as though we already knew one another. I have only had such an experience once before in my life, and I cherish both events in my heart. I only wish I had been a better friend and made sure we met again! Jackie was poised and kind, radiating goodness and love. I pray that you will hold to the bright memories you have from your lifetime together with your beloved wife and partner. May you be assured that the 2 of you will meet again in God’s glorious Heaven.

Mark, we were so blessed to have Jackie in our lives. She brought such great light to our world. Because we lived in a dark world in so many ways, her radiant light gave us hope and encouragement to carry on, to fight through the battles we had, to push ahead, and not give up.
My hope for you is that you will remember the many ways Jackie advocated so hard and that you will continue to do the same in her absence, even as you grieve this devastating loss of your cherished partner in life. My thoughts, prayers, and support will be ongoing during this heartbreaking time.
